Smoking Harms Your Health

You’d have to go all the way back to the sixties to find the date when the Surgeon General announced smoking was a leading cause to health problems. Since then though smoking has become very popular and it’s a leading cause of death in many countries. Every single year people die from smoking and the diseases which are formed from smoking, the number is actually astronomical and reaches well into the hundreds of thousands of people worldwide.

When you choose to smoke you choose to inhale tons of chemicals and other things into your body with the worst two things being tar and carbon monoxide. Tar is what makes smokers lungs go black and it’s very unhealthy and leads to cancer very often. There are many forms of cancer you can inherit from smoking cigarettes including mouth cancer and lung cancer among others.

You’ll begin to become very lethargic after smoking for years and usually if you begin smoking as a teenager when you hit thirty or forty you can no longer do things that involve running. You lose most of your stamina from being a smoker and also have trouble with losing your breathe quickly and not being able to catch your breathe back.

Heart disease is the number one killer when it comes to smoking and one in every five heart disease deaths leads straight back to smoking and that number becomes worse when you only account young people. All of the movies portray smoking to be fine and man y of the beloved celebrities are smoking in recent films. This has lead to more teenagers taking up smoking as a hobby thinking it’s cool. In all seriousness though smoking is one of the worst ways to diminish your health at a fast rate and is far from the cool thing to do. Unless having cancer at age thirty is cool nowadays then I can’t see how anyone could imagine smoking to be cool. The lack of maturity in teenagers and peer pressure is what leads them to begin smoking, and they typically don’t realize how addicting smoking is.

Smoking is one of the most addicting things on the planet and once you begin smoking it’s very hard to quit. People have tried hundreds of different quit smoking products and although there is success with the programs you need to be willing and ready to quit smoking before they will work. Simply using a product hoping it will lower your smoke intake is false use of the product and won’t result in you quitting.

Every year smoking deaths rise and more people become a number rather then do something about their health. If you smoke you need to quit as soon as possible, the longer you smoke and the older you are the less likely you’ll be able to quit and also the more likely chance of you already have ruined your health to the point of no return. Quitting at any age is better then not quitting though and it should help shave some years back onto your life if you can successfully quit smoking.

Reduce Smoking to Avoid Smoking Wrinkles!

Are you a smoker? Are you concerned of how quickly age seems to be creeping up on you? If you were aware of the fact that smoking is the second quickest way of making yourself look older, would you still continue smoking? Do me a favor. Go look at yourself in the mirror and tell me what you see. If you see a “smoker’s face” – that is, a pale, grey, wrinkled face – then you need to stop smoking and continue reading. If you’re interested in avoiding smoking wrinkles, read on.

In 1965, a study was conducted on the effects smoking has on skin aging. It was then that a phenomenon aptly named “smoker’s face” was first identified. Since then it has been widely accepted that smokers look older than non-smokers because of the damage caused on the skin from smoking. In fact, according to the Chief Medical Officer of the United Kingdom, smoking adds anywhere between 10 to 20 years to your natural age.

So what exactly is a smoking wrinkle? Have you noticed how a smoker reacts to a puff of cigarette, to that deep draw of nicotine-laced smoke each time he or she lights up? They would pucker up to draw from the cigarette, and when that nicotine smoke hits their lungs – usually during that first cigarette in the mornings – they squint at the sensation. Do that for years and soon wrinkles will develop around the eyes and lips from the continual repetitions, day in, day out. These very wrinkles are called smoking wrinkles, and make up part of the “smoker’s face”.

Over time, after years and years of smoking, you can expect several things. First, a loss of skin vitality; your face will lose its natural glow and seem dull, and your skin will become discolored, and even ashen if your complexion was fair and white. Wrinkles will deepen around the eyes and mouth, thanks to the continual puckering-and-squinting-effect from smoking. And lastly, while everyone your own age actually looks their age, you’ll seem like their older sibling… or worse, their parent.

Of course, there is no way for you to turn back the clock and reverse the damage that has already been done by years of smoking. However, you can prevent further damage by reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke. Better yet, quit completely and stop any additional and unnecessary damage to your skin. Sure, you might not see any (or enough) signs of damage now, but keep in mind that some damage will not immediately be apparent.

Do not assume that it will never happen to you.

Because chances are, if you smoke long enough, the effects of smoking will creep up on you eventually, and by the time they do, it would already have been too late to start regretting it.

If you’re a smoker, the one crucial thing you have to remember is to halt the damage you’re doing to your own skin. With a proper diet and anti aging skin care, you will have a better chance of looking much better than if you had carried on being a smoker. So do the sensible thing: Avoid cigarettes, and avoid smoking wrinkles.

Quit Smoking - 2 Amazingly Simple Tips That Will Help You Quit Smoking Easily

The majority of people who try and quit smoking cold turkey will do so without a plan, make sure you don’t do this. If you are a smoker who would love to to quit smoking but find the whole quitting thing quit intimidating then put down the smoke and keep reading.

This quick article will explain a few, simple but important you need to know if you want to quit smoking.

Something you should obtain is Responsibility. If you’d like to quit smoking then you are going to need to take responsibility. You can’t put this on anyone else and blame others for your problem because you yourself created it. I am going to be a little harsh on you so don’t take it personally but it really is your own fault. A part of achieving a goal is accepting and clearly pointing out your situation and problems and then and then changing it until you have reached your goal.

So forget about blaming anyone but yourself, I’ve helped many people beat smoking and they’ll always tell me things like things like “I smoke because I am always stressed” (Smoking is proven to give you more stress so don’t buy into it) or “I smoke just to annoy all those stuck-up self-righteous non smokers”. Be serious with yourself, are the excuses you’re giving yourself completely logical because I’ll bet they they aren’t. It’s important that you change this, and it’s easy too, just take responsibility for your problem and work towards quitting.

Here’s something that is very important if you are trying to quit smoking. Willpower, in smoking terms this is the ability to persist through even the toughest of cravings. Look, the most average of craving lasts just 3 minutes. Just 3 minutes! yet millions of people all over the world fail to quit each year. They give in to those minute 3 minutes. The irony is that if they could just hold out for a little longer they would make it.

But they don’t, and do you want to know why? Well it’s because so many people these days have virtually no willpower. I’ve quit and I know how hard it is, I was a very addicted smoker. But you’ve got to just tell yourself that you will fight off that next craving. And each time you do so you are filled with a copious amount of confidence which only grows after each time you don’t give in to the craving. So just cut yourself off for that 3 minutes and before you know it, you’ll be off those nasty smokes.

Well we have come to the end of this article and to go out with a bang I’m going to quote a famous sports brand (guess who) and say… “Just do it!” Seriously. Just force yourself to quit and believe in yourself that you will quit. It’s do or die now… and I’d reccomend DOing

Stop Smoking Tips: 3 Stop Smoking Remedies That Really Work

With millions of smokers desperate to quit, there seems to be an unending barrage of tips, ideas and suggestions on how to stop smoking. If you are currently a smoker, I’m sure you’ve heard of many of them. Perhaps you’ve even tried one or two things, but you’re still looking for that one method that will work for you. Luckily, the chances that you’ll eventually be successful are pretty good.

Millions of people, who were once dedicated smokers, are now ex-smokers. If they could do it, surely you can too. You just need to find the right method that works for you. As you already know, it’s easy enough to start puffing away on those cigarettes, but it’s really hard when you try to quit.

Here’s something positive for you to think about. Each and every day, you actually go six to eight hours without having a cigarette. It doesn’t matter if you are a heavy or light smoker. There is a long period of time when you do not have a single cigarette. Guess when.

Stumped?

When you’re asleep at night.

Think about it. Each night when you go to sleep, you usually do not wake up in the middle of the night with a craving for cigarettes. Maybe you want one right after waking up, but during the night, your cigarette addiction is asleep as well. This means that you can, in fact, go for long periods without having a cigarette while you’re awake.

Some of the more popular ways to kick the habit are hypnosis, nicotine aids, medications, and the always popular cold turkey method. Many smokers don’t think they can go the cold turkey route, but many people are successful doing it this way. The bottom line on quitting is: different strokes for different folks – use whatever you think will work best for you.

Here are three of the all time best ways to quit smoking:

Hypnosis

Many people, who are struggling to give up smoking, find hypnosis is the answer they’ve been looking for to finally end their addiction. When you visit a hypnotist to stop smoking, they will put you in a relaxed state and then give you positive suggestions concerning your smoking habit.

You will hear the message over and over again that you no longer need, or have any desire, to smoke cigarettes. Because you are in a relaxed state, your subconscious mind will be very open to this suggestion. Our subconscious minds play a big role in our everyday behavior. This is why hypnosis therapy is so powerful.

You don’t have to visit a hypnotherapist to quit smoking. You can buy a hypnosis CD or Mp3 download that will have the same powerful message that you can listen to repeatedly. If you go this route, make sure you are relaxed and free of stress to obtain the best results.

Stop Smoking Aids

What makes giving up cigarettes so difficult for many people is the withdrawal symptoms from nicotine. Nicotine is a powerful addictive substance and when you begin pulling away from it, you may experience extreme irritability, as well as, cravings.

Many people turn to stop smoking aids to avoid the unpleasant side effects of quitting. There’s the nicotine patch, nicotine gum and inhalers. Recently, there is a pill that is supposed to be very good for smoking cessation.

Some of these aids are available over the counter, while others need a doctor’s prescription. If you have any questions or concerns about these methods, you should consult your doctor.

Cold Turkey

Some people think that going cold turkey is easy, but the reality is that it’s the hardest way to stop smoking. You need to be highly motivated to try this method and quite frankly, most people who think they can simply stop smoking usually find they cannot quit so easily.

Remember that nicotine is a powerful substance and your body and mind is used to having a constant supply. You may throw those cigarettes away and tell yourself that you’re not going to touch one ever again, but your mind will begin to crave another cigarette. It’s particularly hard when you’re around other smokers.

Many people fail their first time going cold turkey, and if this happens to you, don’t get too upset. It may take you two or more tries before you can finally quit
smoking for good.

To help yourself, you can write down positive affirmations and read them every day. You can also give yourself a little reward for reaching small goals – like pay yourself a dollar for each day you go without having a cigarette.

Whatever method you use, make a firm commitment that you will see it through until you are successful. Your long-term health is more important than sticking with an old habit that offers nothing but the promise of expensive medical bills down the road. Kick the habit today – you can do it!

Quit Smoking Tips - How to Quit Smoking Quickly and Easily

When it comes to quit smoking tips, there are a lot of websites and people more than willing to give them out, and many of the options they provide actually work. However, I’m going to make a disclaimer before I even give any treatment options-the most important variable is you.

As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, principles are much more important than methods. Methods are a dime a dozen, and without principles, none of them will work properly. What does this mean?

Quite simply, if you haven’t truly made up your mind to stop smoking, and that you need to do it now, you won’t stop no mater what product you use. You have to decide that, no matter what, you are going to break the habit, or else it’s not going anywhere. Without this determination, you won’t be able to quit.

In other words, you need to make the commitment that nothing is going to stop you. if you just decide to “try it out” nothing is going to work. the same thing separates the people who succeed in business from those who don’t, or basically anything else in life-those who commit, and say that failure is not an option are the ones who succeed, and the ones who take the “try it out” approach almost never do.

With that said, the best methods to stop smoking have generally been gum, nicotine patches, quit smoking shots and lasers. These all have proven effective over the years at helping people stop smoking, for one reason or another.

Which one you choose really isn’t that important, as all of them have proven to work. Just pick one (after consulting a doctor, of course) and use it.

Be wary of the lofty claims of the manufacture of these products, as they will obviously give dramatically inflated success rates to draw you in-however, it at least gives you a ballpark figure of how good a chance you have of succeeding.

However, the most important quit smoking tips come after you quit. What do you do the next time the boss irritates you, or something stresses you out, and you start to reach for the cigarette?

If you attempt to just cut out smoking without replacing it with a more positive habit, you won’t e successful-I can guarantee it. Find something else to do with your time, such as exercising, listening to music, bonding with your spouse, etc.

It’s very important that you have another thing that will take the place of smoking, because without this, there will be a giant void in your life, and no matter how strong your willpower, you will cave eventually. Willpower can only get you so far. This is one of the most important quit smoking tips you can get.

The bottom line is, the time to get started on quitting smoking is today. Tomorrow becomes never. Realize that there will never be a perfect time to stop smoking, as there will always be other things going on in your life.

So many people tell themselves they will stop smoking when the timing is right, when their life isn’t so hectic, etc. That day will never come. Get started today with these quit smoking tips, and get on the road to a healthier future.

10 Ways to Quit Smoking With Smoking Quit Tips

If you are trying to quit cigarette smoking or smoking of any kind, whether it is for health reasons, to save money, or if you are just fed up with being the odd one out and having to sneak off for a crafty smoke, then you will need some “Smoking Quit Tips” and I hope that the following 10 ways to quit smoking will help.

1) Stopping smoking is not easy as you will probably know if you have tried to quit cigarette smoking before. Firstly you must make a positive decision to quit. This may sound obvious but if you are trying to quit just to please someone else (your partner, or your family) then you have less chance of succeeding. You must really want to quit for YOURSELF.

2) Making a list of the reasons why you want to quit cigarette smoking will help you. Think of the effect that smoking is having on your health, think of the inconvenience of having to go outside or into another part of the house just to have a cigarette. Whatever you think of to put into your list keep it with you so that you have a constant reminder of why you are quitting.

3) Work out exactly what you are spending on smoking, how much does your habit cost you. What are you spending on a daily, weekly, monthly, or even yearly basis? You will be surprised at just how much of your hard earned cash is just literally going up in smoke. On the positive side don’t forget to think of all the nice things that you could be spending that cash on.

4) Make a note of the times that you will miss smoking the most i.e. after a meal, or at certain times of the day. This way you can be prepared and even plan to do something that will take your mind off of smoking. You could for example go for a short walk after a meal instead of having that smoke.

5) Let your family and friends know that you are going to quit cigarette smoking. It’s amazing how much support you will receive, and this really helps.

6) Quit smoking one day at a time. Don’t think things like “can I really quit smoking for good” instead say to yourself “I will not smoke today” this is a lot easier for you to take in. Then do the same thing the next day and you will be surprised how quick a week will pass.

7) If you have a friend who is also trying to quit cigarette smoking then try to do it together. Don’t make it a competition but rather be there for each other for help and support.
8) When you feel the urge to smoke do something to take your mind off of the craving. Try chewing gum or nibble on some nuts or healthy snacks (not sweets) and also drink plenty of water and fruit juice.

9) Remove all temptations from around the house. Don’t leave cigarette packets lying about; put all the ash-trays and anything else associated with smoking (lighters, matches, etc) away in a cupboard out of site.

10) Try to quit smoking when you know you will not be put under stress. Pick a week to start when you are on vacation or are going to be at home in a relaxed atmosphere.

These 10 ways to quit smoking are all sound and proven “Smoking Quit Tips” they will all help you to quit cigarette smoking. But you will also need some willpower to achieve your goal. Some people who have tried and failed because of this lack of willpower have found that hypnosis has worked for them. With quit smoking hypnotherapy it gives you a really great start with a higher chance of succeeding. To find out more about quit smoking hypnotherapy just click on the link below.

Best Ways To Quit Smoking - This Is The Truly Methods To Quit Smoking

If you’re a smoker and you want to quit, are there any “best” ways to quit smoking? In a word, no. There is only the method or perhaps combination of methods that will work best for you. Nonetheless, there are some popular techniques that work will help you quit if you want to.

Now, first of all, no method is going to work for you unless you truly want to quit. That includes hypnosis, by the way. Even though hypnosis can be very powerful and can help you quit via the power of suggestion, it’s only a temporary move and will only work as it should if your desire is there. In short, even with hypnosis, nobody can make you do something you don’t want to do for very long.

That said, perhaps some of the most effective methods for quitting smoking include those that use nicotine replacement. This is because there is a psychological component to nicotine addiction, true. However, there’s also very much a physical addiction to nicotine itself. By supplying small amount of nicotine through a medium that’s not a cigarette, you can take the edge off cravings and work on your psychological cigarette addiction (which can be every bit as powerful as the physical craving for nicotine), then address physical cravings gradually as you remove nicotine entirely from your body.

Another one of the best ways to quit smoking, as mentioned previously, is by using hypnosis. This has been found to be very effective therapy at least in the short term to get you over the worst hump when it comes to the cravings you’re going to have. By making cigarettes an item that is unattractive to you, you can learn to ignore them for at least a short period of time as you clear the nicotine out of your system and work on your psychological cravings, too.

Another among the best ways to quit smoking that won’t cost you any money is to buddy up with someone who wants to break his or her own bad habit. You could also enlist the help of someone who’s a former smoker to be your buddy that you’re going to have to be accountable to. If you have someone to be accountable to as you work through your cravings and resist them, you’re much less likely to slip up and have “just one cigarette.” And unless a friend or spouse who is also smoking is also absolutely committed to quitting, don’t have him or her be “quit buddies” with you. This is because if one of you slips up, it’s much more likely that the other one is also going to slip up and have that “just one cigarette,” which leads to a pack, and so on.

Finally, one good way to give yourself a psychological boost as you are going through the quitting process is to keep track of how much money you’re saving every time you DON’T buy cigarettes. Instead of just keeping mental track, it might be helpful to physically take this money and put it in a jar where you can see it grow. This can show you how much you’ve been spending on cigarettes, and you’ll be amazed at how much you can save now. If you wish, too, you can take at least part of the money that you saved and buy yourself something you’ve always wanted with it once you get through the quitting process. Alternatively, of course, you can take money from your “I quit” jar every time you reach a certain milestone, such as “one month non-smoking,” “two months non-smoking,” and buy yourself something with it every time you reach a milestone.

In short, there are many methods to quitting smoking, and each can be the best way to quit smoking depending on who you are. Choose one, stick to it (or switch if you find the one you’ve chosen is not a good fit for you), and work your way toward a healthy and smoke-free life.

How to Quit Smoking - Here Are Some Methods or Ways of How to Quit Smoking

When it comes to how to quit smoking, it’s likely that the slogan, “Just say no” isn’t going to do it. Even though that was a popular phrase during the Reagan administration, addiction is a little more complicated than that, and that goes for cigarettes, too.

What you’re going to need are not slogans, but a method or combination of methods that will be specifically geared to you and the reasons you smoke. Therefore, let’s look at some of the tools and methods available to you if you want to quit smoking. You can choose a program for you that works well so that you, too, can be a non-smoker.

First, let’s look at nicotine replacement methods. These methods have been a boon for smokers who want to quit, because they can help ease cravings just enough that you can power your way through a craving without lighting up. There are two basic methods available on the market today that can help you ease cravings, and best of all, both are available without a prescription. No hassling with the insurance company, no waiting for your doctor to write you a prescription so that you have to risk running out of patches and therefore losing out to a craving. (Of course, you should check with your doctor to make sure it’s a safe for you to use these products, and if you can get a prescription, more power to you, since it means insurance will pay for at least some of the cost and you won’t have to be footing the entire bill yourself.)

The nicotine patch is one “how to quit smoking” method that’s pretty much a no-brainer. You simply stick it somewhere on your body on clean, dry skin that’s not irritated, and you can forget about it. It’ll give you a low dose of nicotine throughout the day so that your cravings are kept at a low enough level that you can keep them in check.

If your nicotine addiction is psychological as well as physical, in that you need to light up a cigarette in certain situations, then nicotine gum might be a better bet for you. This means that instead of lighting up a cigarette, you can pop a piece of gum and have the oral sensation of gum along with the nicotine replacement the patch provides, too. This is helpful for people who need the oral stimulation they enjoy from smoking, and it helps ease physical cravings, too.

If you’re still asking the question as to how to quit smoking if the patch or gum don’t do the entire job, you can also opt for some psychological support too. There are many absolutely versed in talk therapy and hypnotherapy that can help you get over the rough bumps as you work your way to being a non-smoker. Alternatively, you can also buddy up with a friend or a support group as you work your way through the process of quitting so that you can get the kudos and support you need during the rough times. This, too, will help you keep from lighting up. It’s important to note that you probably need to get support from people who’ve been there. Your non-smoking friends who never have smoked mean well, but to them, “Just don’t smoke” seems to be a good enough reason not to. However, if you have support from people who have been there and who know how strong the addiction is, their support for you is going to be much more understanding and will help you much more.

When it comes to how to quit smoking, there are many ways to do it. Choose the method or methods best for you. Remember that your ultimate goal is to be a non-smoker, so how you get there isn’t as important as the fact that you will get there. Therefore, simply finding something that works for you so that you can quit smoking is what’s most important.

Stop Smoking Programs - Which Programs Are the Most Effective at Helping You Stop Smoking

There are obviously many stop smoking programs out there today to help you kick the smoking habits, but which ones really work? Obviously, this the question of the hour.

As with anything in life, some things work better than others, and some programs are flat out better than others. Here is some info to help you find out which are best.

The first thing you need to know is that stop smoking programs do work. They would have to, to be around as long as they have been. In fact, researchers have found over time that smokers who don’t utilize a program and attempt to quit by themselves only have a 5% success rate.

This means thatt he vast, vast majority who attempt to quit by themselves don’t succeed. However, people who used programs such as therapy and treatment were thirty percent likely to succeeding their effort to stop smoking. Yes, this is still significantly less than half, but is obviously much more than the paltry five percent number I showed you before.

Those that utilized over the counter stop smoking programs experienced a success ratio of fifteen percent, which means these are only about 50% as likely to help you stop smoking as a prescription drug, and therapy.

The bottom line is, doing it yourself is not the right choice-yes, it will save you some money, but if your health is really that important to you, you will find the money to invest in it.

Some of the more popular therapy choices you might consider is nicotine anonymous, which works much like AA, and is founded on the same basic guidelines. They are free to attend, and as I said earlier, experience a much higher success rate than most of these kinds of programs.

However, be sure when looking for the right stop smoking program that you avoid ones that simply use pills, as human interaction is extremely important.

Quite simply, any business owner you ask will eagerly tell you the importance of meeting regularly with like minded entrepreneurs to discuss your successes and failures, because you can gain from each others insights. The same principle applies to quitting smoking.

Typically, the best programs don’t use drugs at all, but actually go deeper and show you why you smoke in the first place (i.e. negative thoughts, emotional problems, etc) and help you discover the real reason you smoke and therefore help you to stop quickly.

Without knowing why, even if you are able to break the smoking habit, you will very likely simply replace it with another habit just like it.

Ideally, you will want to do a program that investigates the mental reasons why you smoke, along with using a quit smoking product such as a quit smoking patch or other item, as this will address both the physical and mental reasons you smoke. You can’t focus entirely on one and ignore the other and expect to be able to quit.

The bottom line is, hopefully this info on stop smoking programs will help convince you to join one as quickly as possible, and help you break the smoking habit as quickly as possible.
